What Every Eyewear Consumer
Needs To Know
Each state surrounding Pennsylvania requires opticians to substantiate competency through their state licensing board. However, neither certification or licensing are required by the state of Pennsylvania to recommend, fit, manufacture, dispense, or service eyewear. In fact, less than twenty-five percent (1 in 4) of Pennsylvania's practicing opticians maintain basic voluntary certification and less than one percent have a formal optical degree program education. These deficiencies can easily be masked by a retailers fashion savy aurora or perceived value until unsuspecting consumers need demonstration of professional skills and problem solving abilities.
